Kim Chee Fried Rice

Kim chee fried rice, it is all the goodness of fried rice with the spicy kick of delicious kim chee. I made this with my bulgogi recipe and it was oh so delicious. I got the original recipe from Maangchi again, I have adapted it to my tastes. You can find all her delicious videos and recipes here.

Kim Chee Fried Rice(Kimchi bok keum bap)
adapted from Maangchi

Ingredients:

1 cup chopped kim chee
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp hot pepper paste (gochujang)
2 cups cooked rice, cold left over rice is best
1 tsp low sodium soy sauce
2 green onions sliced
sesame oil for drizzling
toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Kimchi bok keum bap

Heat your pan to medium high heat, add your vegetable oil, and kim chee. Cook for three minutes.

Add 1 tbsp of hot pepper paste to the pan and 2 cups of rice. Stir and break up the rice it with a spoon.

Add the soy sauce and sesame oil and combine, then transfer the kim chee fried rice to your serving dish and sprinkle sliced green onions or sliced dried seaweed and finally add a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds on top.

The kim chee fried rice came out great and was really easy to make. Sometimes I’ll add an egg to the fried rice, usually when I am eating this as a main course. If you like the heat, you can add more kim chee or hot pepper paste for more spice! Seriously this rice is so good, I could eat it every day.
